Oh look! Tiny sculpey stitchpunks! And canon characters, too! They are sitting on quarters, for scale. Also, bonus points if you can tell what dA page they're looking at.

So I ordered some eyelets for those stitchpunk figure commissions I asked if anyone would be interested in, because I wanted a range of sizes and couldn't find quite the right "medium" size in stores, and upon them arriving in the mail I found they were.. much smaller than I pictured. They're the same size as the 1/16" eyelets I saw in stores, even though they were labeled 1/8". Quite misleading. They came in a bunch of colors - bronze, silver, and gold, both dull and shiny. Well, I've got dull bronze-looking ones and shiny copper-looking ones, so those ones in particular don't match up. I thought I’d make the most of them and see if I could make a sculpey stitchpunk small enough for the eyelets to be the right optic size. Apparently I can..? I made 9 yesterday, and 7 earlier today.

I felt so bad sitting these two in the middle of a metal pan and putting him in the oven. Especially 7 - when I took her out I tapped my finger on her head to see if she needed to go back in for a little longer, and her head fell off. :S Oh well, I have glue, so it wasn't all bad. 9 was definitely a prototype, and 7 was me sort of improving on the methods I'd used for 9. And you can't really see it, but 7 is a tiny bit taller than 9. And when they're sitting next to each other it's apparent 9's head is smaller, even though their bodies are about the same size. Oops. 9 looks like he's leaning forwards more so I'll say that contributes to the apparent height difference.

Also hard to tell from the photos, is 9's pupil size. They're really big but in person you can make out the slight grey ring around them that indicates they aren't so large that they're taking up his entire optic. With 7 I had a bit of practice so I was able to make her eyes a little clearer.

So! Long story short, I've decided that I might have two different stitchpunk figure options: these guys, and full-sized figures as linked to in this journal. I've got enough eyelets and sculpey that I could make a ton of these; though I might need to ask if you want the "dull" optics, like the ones here, and "shiny" optics, which are the same colors but very polished and almost chrome looking in the silver ones' case. And if anyone's interested and the stitchpunk's optics are a different color altogether, I can paint over them so they'll be the right shade, so it's no problem. And as a general commission rule of mine, I won't do any of the canon cast. Though I might do some as gifts in the future. Let me know if you'd be interested!

9, 7, and stitchpunks in general are Shane Acker's.
