Do not use, copy, or repost without my express permission. I’ve had too many run-ins with people doing it in the past.

I completely blame PerkyPastry for this guy. Particularly this thing that she drew. She's the one that wound up providing a general idea of a name and personality for this guy, though I'm not entirely sure that was intentional on her part.

He started out as a parody, of something that is a joke in part of the 9 fandom - you can tell if a character is mine based on how many eyes it has - the more than two there are, the more likely I'm the one behind the design. Aand so this guy happened. I swore in the last image's description that I wouldn't name this guy or make him into a real character because I had too many already, but seeing as how I've created a few handfuls of characters since then I guess I went against that. And I guess making this guy a non-parody character wouldn't be.. too bad. There I go being addicted to making 9 characters again. He actually marks 9-verse character #40.

Okay, now on to Ryan. I changed a few things about his design, mainly his colors. I was looking at my few dozen other stitchpunks, and a large portion of them are either shades of brown or relatively warm colors, and any cooler shades on said characters are either secondary or just accents. I can count on one hand the characters that are cool colors, which is odd because I usually like cooler colors over the warm variety. So Ryan here is a mash of cool colors - [muted] dark blues, light green optics, and yellow-green thread. I also went with shades of blue for his hands and feet because I wanted to do that with Felix, but because it clashed with his fabric colors I had to put it aside. And then a few little details as far as hand / foot design were tweaked. Worth noting is that all of his optics, including the ones on his face, deep-set because they'd be less likely to be protruding and catching on things, like they probably would if some portion of the casing behind the rim was exposed. And or anyone that's wondering about his patches, they're made from some kind of felt, hence why there isn't any discernible fabric weave on them.

Ryan is a little jumpy. There's no other word for it. You can't really blame him, as he can literally see everything going on around him and as a result is in a constant state of being on the verge of a sensory overload. The more movement going on around him, the more he has to take in, and the higher his anxiety levels can become. It's not unusual for him to squeeze all his eyes shut and drop into a ball when he starts feeling like this. But generally, he can handle the large amount of visual input and doesn't act like it's a big problem.

As you can probably guess, his visual abilities makes him an excellent lookout, and he proves invaluable when it comes to surveillance of new areas or just keeping watch. It's also nearly impossible to sneak up on him, unless you're coming at him from under the ground beneath his feet. You can also generally tell where he's focusing most of his attention, based on what he's looking at with the eyes on his face. However, just because he's not facing you doesn't mean he can't see or focus on you with his other eyes, so it doesn't always hold true. Ryan is quite agile and very quick on his feet, thanks to his small size, and thanks to his many optics he doesn't have to worry about any real blind spots in a situation that would require him quickly moving around and keeping an eye on a danger source at the same time. He doesn't actually have any sort of weapon, and relies on his swiftness to get away from and keep away from anything dangerous. He doesn't really like the idea of being violent, and is concerned enough about getting an eye or two, or more broken, that he won't try to actually fight unless it's absolutely necessary.

Ryan has a habit of blurting out things and acting impulsively, and only realizes the effects his actions can have afterwards, sometimes to his embarrassment. Other times he has to be told that what he just said / did wasn't exactly something he should do again or something he should keep to himself next time. He's also a bit of an eavesdropper and likes to jump in and provide his thoughts on things uninvited - always following an "excuse me" of some sort, though - which makes others perceive him as a bit annoying.

Like many of my other mouth-less stitchpunks that still have a voice, Ryan has a simple speaker-like voice box that requires no mouth movements to form certain sounds. Unlike my other mouth-less stitchpunks that can speak, his voice-box is located in his head, under the fabric just below his middle optic, while my other characters have their voice-box speakers located in their chest.

As far as relationships, Ryan has sort of been adopted by Felix and Elrik. I say adopted because in addition to his small size - six inches tall, when 6, the shortest of the canon cast, is seven inches tall according to official material; and Elrik is a couple centimeters under eight inches and Felix is a just a couple above that, or more depending on the positioning of his head-fingers - he has some tendencies that would place him in the mental age of a teen that isn't really ready to be dealing with the world by himself just yet. But he's mature enough that Felix and Elrik aren't exactly parental figures to him - they have a relationship that's more similar to the one between the main protagonist and their uncle-figures seen in a lot of Disney films. Hence why I also used the words "sort of" in that sentence. He's also something of an older cousin figure to Morgan once she enters the picture.

Ryan is mine,
